MAXIM'S 65Msps TO 80Msps, 15-BIT, HIGH-SPEED ADCs DELIVER THE BEST NOISE-FLOOR PERFORMANCE
SUNNYVALE, CA-March 19, 2004-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX1418/MAX1419/MAX1427/MAX1428 family of high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). These devices are designed for applications that demand very high dynamic range and excellent spurious performance. Applications include multicarrier cellular base stations, multistandard broadband-communication systems, and high-performance test equipment.
To address these applications, members of this ADC family are optimized for either baseband sampling (MAX1419/MAX1427) or IF sampling (MAX1418/MAX1428). These ADCs feature the industry's best noise floor of -79.3dBFS and a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 76.5dB at an input frequency of 5MHz. At the same input frequency, the spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) is an impressive 94.5dBc. The exceptional noise floor allows the design of a more sensitive receiver, which can also be used to eliminate the need for automatic gain control, thus saving board space and cost.
The MAX1418/MAX1419/MAX1427 are in production and the MAX1428 is currently sampling. All of these ADCs are pin compatible and come in a tiny, 56-pin QFN-EP package specified for the industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). An evaluation kit is available to speed designs. Pricing for this 15-bit ADC family starts at $29.75 (1000-up, FOB USA).
