DC-DC CONVERTERS WITH OP AMPS FOR THIN-FILM TRANSISTOR LCDs
SUNNYVALE, CA-February 20, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX1542/MAX1543 high-performance step-up regulators that include two high-current operational amplifiers. Designed for active-matrix, thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid-crystal displays (LCDs), they include a logic-controlled, high-voltage switch with adjustable delay. The MAX1543 has an additional high-voltage switch and features a pin-selectable step-up regulator switching frequency.
These high-frequency current-mode regulators (640kHz for MAX1543, 1.2MHz for both MAX1543/MAX1542) have a built-in power MOSFET, allowing for ultra-small inductors and ceramic capacitors. They provide fast-transient response to pulsed loads while achieving over 85% efficiency.
The high-performance op amps can drive an LCD backplane (VCOM) and/or a gamma correction divider string, or can be used for other purposes. They feature high short-circuit current (150mA), fast slew rate (7.5V/µs), wide bandwidth (12MHz), and Rail-to-Rail® inputs and outputs.
The MAX1542/MAX1543 are available in 20-pin, thin QFN packages (5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm) for ultra-thin LCD panel design. Prices start at $3.40 (1000-up, FOB USA.).
Rail-to-Rail is a trademark of Nippon Motorola, Ltd.
