MAXIM OFFERS DUAL-OUTPUT LOCAL/REMOTE TEMPERATURE SWITCH IN A SINGLE µMAX PACKAGE
SUNNYVALE, CA-February 25, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6687, which integrates a remote-junction temperature switch and a local temperature switch in a single µMAX package. The MAX6687 has ±1.5°C (max) local temperature accuracy and ±3.0°C (max) remote temperature accuracy.
An external P-N junction (typically a diode-connected transistor) serves as a sensing element to measure the remote temperature. The local temperature switch has a pin-programmable temperature threshold settable in 5°C increments. Two trip threshold temperature ranges, 40°C to 80°C and 75°C to 115°C, are available. Hysteresis for both the local and remote thresholds is 5°C (nominal). Each temperature range is offered with a factory-set remote trip point of either 120°C or 125°C. The MAX6687 does not assert on transient (single-sample) faults or when power is first applied.
The MAX6687 has two open-drain, active-low outputs and operates from a 3.0V to 5.5V power supply with an average 20µA supply current. The MAX6687 is available in a space-saving 8-pin µMAX package. Prices start at $1.38 (1000-up, FOB USA).
