MAXIM'S LOW-POWER, HIGH-VOLTAGE UNDER/OVERVOLTAGE DETECTORS IN SOT23 MONITOR UP TO 28V

(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6457—MAX6460 low-power, high-voltage detectors capable of monitoring voltages up to 28V. These devices are suitable in applications such as battery stacks, automotive, industrial, networking, and telecom.
The MAX6457 is a single voltage monitor for undervoltage or overvoltage detection. A logic-based clear input allows the output to be latched when an overvoltage is detected. The MAX6458 includes two comparators to provide voltage window monitoring with a single output. The MAX6459 can be used as a single window monitor or as two independent voltage monitors. The MAX6460 includes a single comparator with an external reference that can provide a voltage as well as accept one. Both logic inputs are available, making the MAX6460 flexible enough for positive or negative voltage monitoring and active-high or active-low output configurations.
The MAX6457—MAX6460 operate from 4V to 28V while consuming only 2µA of supply current. All devices have open-drain outputs that can be connected to a voltage from 0V to 28V regardless of supply voltage. The inputs are referenced to an internal voltage of 1.2V, allowing adjustable voltage thresholds to be set with external resistors.
All parts are offered as voltage detectors with a propagation delay of 50µs. The MAX6457/MAX6458 are also available as a microprocessor (µP) supervisor with a minimum reset timeout of 90ms. All devices are offered with 0.5% hysteresis. The MAX6457/MAX6458/MAX6459 offer options with 5% or 8% hysteresis to help eliminate chattering in noise-sensitive applications. All devices are offered in a SOT23 package and are specified from -40°C to +125°C. Prices start at $1.20 (2,500 or 10,000-up minimum, FOB USA).
