14-BIT 260Msps DAC FROM MAXIM, HAS THE INDUSTRY'S BEST DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE

SUNNYVALE, CA-August 27, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces a state-of-the-art, high-performance 14-bit 260Msps DAC, the MAX5195. This high-speed converter offers the industry's best dynamic performance in spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR), intermodulation distortion (IMD), and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Outstanding performance in these specifications makes MAX5195 ideal for use in applications such as broadband multicarrier communications, direct IF synthesis, automated test equipment (ATE), and instrumentation.

This industry-leading performance is sustained from base-band to intermediate frequencies (IF) of 100MHz and beyond. At a 1MHz output frequency, the MAX5195 offers a SFDR of 88dBc (amplitude at -12dB and a sampling frequency of 156MHz). At an IF of 130MHz, the SFDR is 68dBc (amplitude at -12dB and a sampling frequency of 260MHz). The two-tone IMD performance is similarly impressive; the IMD is -87dBc at an output frequency of 32MHz. The MAX5195 has an ultra-low noise performance of 160dB/Hz at an output frequency of 19MHz. The combination of this ultra-low noise floor and superior IMD performance enables the transmission of multicarrier GSM and UMTS spectra.

The MAX5195 comes in a space-saving 48-pin QFN package with exposed paddle specified for the industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $34.50 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is also available.
