DUAL 10-BIT 120Msps ADC FROM MAXIM DELIVERS EXCELLENT DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE AT LOW POWER

SUNNYVALE, CA-August 16, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (Nasdaq: MXIM) expands the MAX1180—MAX1190 family of dual, low-power, 3.3V, 10-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with the introduction of the MAX1190.

The MAX1190 offers a SNR of 57dB and a SFDR of 64dBc at an input frequency of 60MHz, and a sampling frequency of 120Msps. Analog power consumption under the same conditions is a nominal 201mW per channel.

Like the rest of this ADC family, the MAX1190 has the best available performance at the lowest power. This family is targeted at applications where wide bandwidth, good linearity, and high dynamic performance at low power are required. These applications include high-speed I/Q digitization, multichannel IF undersampling, imaging, and instrumentation.

The MAX1180—MAX1190 can be operated from a 2.8V to 3.6V analog supply. For maximum interface flexibility, a separate digital supply pin allows output operation from 1.7V to 3.6V.

The MAX1190 is pin compatible with the MAX1180 (105Msps), MAX1181 (80Msps), MAX1182 (65Msps), MAX1183 (40Msps), MAX1184 (20Msps), MAX1185 (20Msps, muxed outputs), and the MAX1186 (40Msps, muxed outputs). In addition, this dual 10-bit ADC family is pin compatible with Maxim's dual 8-bit ADCs (MAX1195-MAX1198).

The MAX1180 and MAX1190 families come in space-saving 48-pin TQFP packages specified for the industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $4.95 (1000-up, FOB USA). Pricing for the MAX1190 starts at $19.95 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available for purchase.
