INDUSTRY'S FIRST SINGLE-PORT T3/E3 LIU WITH FULLY INTEGRATED JITTER ATTENUATOR
DALLAS, TX-April 3, 2002-Dallas Semiconductor introduces the DS3150 line interface unit (LIU), the industry's first T3/E3 and STS-1 LIU fully integrated jitter attenuator. Although often needed in the signal path, T3/E3 jitter attenuators have traditionally been expensive and difficult to implement, often involving discrete PLL/FIFO designs. By providing a fully integrated jitter attenuator that requires no external components, the DS3150 minimizes design time, component cost, and board space.
The DS3150 also offers state-of-the-art receiver and transmitter. The receiver recovers clock and data from signals with up to 15dB of loss (more than 1000ft of cable), while the transmitter drives waveshapes 75 ohm coaxial cable with excellent template compliance. Receiver features include loss-of-signal detection and a 20dB preamp for monitoring
Transmitter features include line build-out control, transmit three-state output driver monitor, and a pattern generator (DS3 AIS or unframed all ones). The DS3150 jitter attenuator complies with all T3/E3 jitter standards and placed into the transmit path or the receive path. Other DS3150 features B3ZS/HDB3 encoder and decoder, local and remote loopbacks, and built-in PRBS pattern generator and detector.
The DS3150 is a drop-in replacement for the TDK78P2241/B LIUs and is pin compatible to the TDK78P7200/78P7200L LIUs. It has low-power 3.3V operation with 5V tolerant I/Os. The device is available in 48-pin TQFP and 28-pin PLCC packages in both commercial (0°C to +70°C) and industrial (-40°C to +85°C) operating temperature ranges.
