LOW-NOISE, HIGH-BANDWIDTH TIA FOR FIBRE CHANNEL APPLICATIONS
SUNNYVALE, CA-December 4, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX3275/MAX3277 +3.3V, 2.125Gbps compact, low-power transimpedance amplifiers that can be easily assembled into TO-46 or TO-56 headers with a photodiode. The MAX3275/MAX3277 transimpedance amplifiers and the MAX3274*/MAX3276* limiting amplifiers form a 2-chip solution for dual-rate Fibre Channel receivers. The MAX3275/MAX3277 have ultra-low power consumption, low noise, and a small die size.
Operating from a single +3.3V supply, the MAX3275/MAX3277 feature a transimpedance gain of 3.3k , 2.3GHz bandwidth, and a 2mA AC input overload, while consuming only 83mW of power. Due to low 300nARMS input-referred noise, 10µAp-p input sensitivity, and only 7psp-p deterministic jitter, a receiver designed using the MAX3275/MAX3277 exceeds the Fibre Channel stressed receiver sensitivity of 96µWp-p at 2.125Gbps and 55µWp-p at 1.0625Gbps. The MAX3275/MAX3277 incorporate a space-saving 600 filter connection to positive bias the photodiode. The locations of the inverting and noninverting output pads on the MAX3275 and MAX3277 are interchanged, providing maximum packaging flexibility.
The MAX3275/MAX3277 are available in 24mil x 47mil dice over the industrial temperature range (0°C to +85°C). Prices start at $6.80 (1000-up, FOB USA). Evaluation kits are available.
