DS2710适用于在低电流便携式应用中对系统中的单节镍氢(NiMH)电池充电。DS2710的输入包括USB电源以及5V稳压适配器。通过监测温度、电压和充电时间实现单节NiMH或镍镉(NiCd)电池的快速充电控制。DS2710包含电池测试功能，用于检测失效或不匹配的电池，如一次性碱性电池。
