DS1863控制并监视所有突发模式的发送器和视频接收器，可为无源光网络(PON)三路复用器实现偏置功能。该器件的APC环路具有跟踪误差补偿功能，可为激光驱动器偏置电流提供基准，并且提供控制调制电流的温度索引查找表(LUT)。该器件使用其内部快速比较器连续监视高输出电流、高偏置电流以及传输功率高、传输功率低，无需增加额外的元件就能确保满足视力安全需要。5个ADC通道监视V_CC，内部温度以及3个外部监视输入(MON1–3)，可满足发送和接收监视要求。
