MAX5904-MAX5909双热插拔控制器为双电源系统提供完备的保护。这些器件所允许的两路热插拔电源范围为+1V至+13.2V，其中一路电源等于或高于+2.7V，能够在带电背板上安全地插入或拨出板卡。

板卡的放电滤波电容为带电背板提供低阻，由此引起高浪涌电流从背板流至板卡，烧坏连接器和元件，或引起瞬间的背板电源崩溃、导致系统复位。当板卡插入时，通过逐渐升高输出电压、调节电流在预设的门限以内，MAX5904系列热插拔控制器可以避免上述问题，保证系统安全稳定。在启动周期完成后，两个片内比较器提供VariableSpeed/BiLevel™保护，防止短路和过流故障，并可抑制系统噪声和负载瞬变。发生故障时将切断负载。MAX5905/MAX5907/MAX5909在故障之后必须解锁，而MAX5904/MAX5906/MAX5908在故障之后能够自动重新启动。

MAX5904系列提供多种选择，减少了元件数量和设计时间。所有器件内置一个电荷泵，用于驱动廉价的、外部N沟道MOSFET的栅极。这些器件提供一些集成的特性，如启动电流调节和电流瞬变保护，无需外部定时电阻和电容。MAX5906-MAX5909提供漏极开路状态指示输出，可调的启动定时器，可调的限流值，一个独立的比较器和输出欠压/过压监视。

MAX5904/MAX5905提供8引脚SO封装，MAX5906-MAX5909提供节省空间的16引脚QSOP封装。
